The traditional shotgun mic that works for classic shoulder-mount camcorders may not be a good choice for compact handheld camcorders, as the long shotgun barrel can vignette and intrude into the video frame. So we kept the ECM MS2 mic short, making it the perfect companion for handheld professional camcorders like the Sony PM W100, NEX FS700U and HXR NX30U.
