The Big Picture
The Alpha 1 II provides a total camera solution for professionals who require performance across the full range of photographic disciplines, without compromise. Built upon the feedback of working professionals and top-level creators, the Alpha 1 II takes the original and well-proven sensor from the Alpha 1, and puts it into a package that delivers a level of reliability and performance that quite simply cannot be beaten. A new AI chip enables incredible tracking performance, with tenacious and precise focus even at 120 frames per second. A revamped stabilisation system delivers up to 8.5 stops of stabilisation for exceptional stability in low light or with longer focal lengths. An enhanced body design provides a significantly upgraded viewfinder and screen, as well as the highly-acclaimed ergonomics of the Alpha 9 III. For any photographer that requires total performance, this camera is the new pinnacle.
Unbreakable Focus
The addition of an AI chip takes the Alpha 1’s already breathtaking autofocus performance and elevates it to the extraordinary. By incorporating an understanding of the subject’s total position in space, the camera is able to accurately track focus even in the most difficult circumstances, gracefully switching between eye, face and body as the situation requires, and delivering perfect focus, shot after shot.
Upgraded Image Stabilisation System
The Alpha 1 II utilises an upgraded 5-axis in-body image stabilisation system which delivers up to 8.5-step1 stabilisation. An updated stabilisation algorithm paired with
a high-precision gyro sensor provides precise detection and control right down to the single-pixel level, ensuring crisp and clear images, even on longer lenses at dawn and dusk.
Extraordinary Detail & Fidelity
Although it uses the same 50.1 Megapixel sensor as the original Alpha 1, the Alpha 1 II has been enhanced to provide even higher levels of quality. Improvements to the processing and signal handling of the BIONZ X Image processors provides improvements to mid-high ISO image quality and detail, and further refinements have also improved the
consistency of exposure and colour from shot to shot. All of this while retaining the camera’s incredible 15-stop dynamic range for exceptional depth of colour.
4-axis Multi-angle LCD Monitor
The Alpha 1 II utilises the same 4-axis multi-angle LCD monitor previously seen on the Alpha 7R V and Alpha 9 III. The design can be freely adjusted in both a tiltable direction or side open, providing excellent operability even the most challenging situations.
Composite RAW Shooting
For situations that require a deeply specialised approach, the Alpha 1 II offers two Composite RAW capture modes. In NR Shooting mode, the camera captures multiple RAW images (4, 8, 16 or 32) which can be composited using Sony’s Imaging Edge Desktop application for remarkably low noise images even at very high sensitivity. For the last word in
detail, Pixel Shift Multi Shooting is also available, giving up to 199 Megapixels of detail.
Improved Grip Ergonomics
A slightly reclined grip and repositioned shutter button give a more affirmative shutter action for decisive capture. In addition, new customisation options for release lag allow professionals to fine-tune timing, for a tool that perfectly suits its user.
