Based in Charles street Norwood and operating since 2001, Merlin have been providing premium quality production across a broad range of the media spectrum. Whether it’s high end TVCs, social media content, music videos, safety and training content, livestreams or anything in between, in the words of company director Richie Lanyon; “If it’s viewed on a screen, we make it happen.”
Merlin is particularly proud of their recent production on the Australian series ‘Adventure All Stars,’ streaming on multiple channels including Australia’s 7Two and 7Plus, Outdoor Channel Asia and a New Zealand series on TVNZ1. Describing itself as ‘the world’s only social conscious travel show,’ Adventure All Stars allows TV viewers to experience incredible regions through the eyes of an engaging and socially conscious cast and the team from Merlin are there every step of the way capturing the raw emotions and memories in the making.
The dynamic and outdoors-focused nature of ‘Adventure All Stars’ makes use of a wide range of broadcast tech, including Merlin’s Sony FS7 and Z90s, DJI Mavic 2 Pro and Osmo Pocket 3, a fleet of GoPros and greenscreen footage shot on their Sony FX6. All of this diverse footage is then brought together using Merlin’s post production facilities, proudly supplied and supported by ProAV Solutions.
Using a combination of Mac systems, high speed RAID arrays, Eizo reference monitors and Black Magic control surfaces to complete an entirely Da Vinci Resolve-based workflow, Merlin editor Ben Day says the collaborative projects function of Resolve was a real game-changer. With 6 full-time staff working out of four separate edit suites, having multiple users editing the same projects, while working off the same footage concurrently makes it possible to meet both the episodic deadlines for ‘Adventure All Stars’ and the ever-evolving requirements of their many other clients.

Working out of their Norwood creative studio space since 2015, the facilities at Merlin have grown over the years to best accommodate the growth and change that we’ve all seen in the video production sector. As one of the largest production houses in South Australia, Merlin strives to be at the forefront of production, editing and colour technology.
Another tool in the Merlin wheelhouse is their greenscreen studio space. With recording ability for a quick talking head or a multicamera livestream, the team at Merlin have a great handle on setup to deliver high quality production.
