The Canon EU-V2 Expansion Unit 2 is mounted onto your Canon C500 Mark II camera and offers a V-mount battery post for power as well as ports that increase the proficiencies of your Canon C500 camera. This expansion unit adds five ports;
- A lens control port
- DC Out (24V, 2A)
- Ethernet
- Remote B (RS-422)
- Genlock/Sync Out
This unit increases your Canon C500 Mark II for work as a full-sized production camera, adding two 3-pin XLR connectors for audio input. The V-mount battery plate includes a D-Tap output for powering accessories. The Genlock/Sync Out port takes a genlock signal that slaves your camera to the same time base as the other gear getting the genlock signal. The Remote B port lets you control your camera using the RS-422 protocol, while the Ethernet port lets you link your camera to a LAN for control and live streaming applications. The DC out port offers power for accessories, while the lens control port lets you interface with select lenses. The ports have rubber covers to shield the connectors from dust invasion when not being utilised. Genlock is the mainstay of live/broadcast production as it warrants that all the switchers, cameras and production equipment are running in phase with each other. This avoids jumping images or black frames when swapping amongst sources. The expansion unit can power its ports as well as your camera via the built-in V-mount. However, you cannot power the adapter from the camera, as the lens port, DC power port and XLR connectors can only be supplied power from a V-mount battery and not from the camera body.
