The STM in its name refers to its Stepping Motor driven autofocus, which allows you to focus quickly and accurately. Using this lens, you will be able to create images with excellent image sharpness, beautifully smooth bokeh, and very well controlled chromatic aberration, vignetting, distortion and flare.
At just 22.8mm thick and weighing in at 130 grams it is very lightweight with an ultra-slim profile. A fast f/2.8 maximum aperture is great for low-light shooting, plus its circular, 7-bladed diaphragm delivers pleasing “bokeh”. It features an all-new “stepping motor” (STM) AF system that provides fast and super-quiet autofocusing. High image quality throughout the frame is assured thanks to an aspheric lens with Super Spectra lens coating.
